About Us

Dr. C.V.N. Kavitha Rao Diabetes and Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization. Our work is divided into two intervention areas – Cancer and Diabetes Screening – supported by Awareness and propelled with Compassion. We are on a quest for early identification and elimination of health risks in India and until we achieve that, we’ll continue to assist patients, and promote prevention.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, undiagnosed diabetes in India is as high as 9%, with Hyderabad having the highest incidence of diabetes mellitus among the population at 16%, effectively making it the diabetes capital of India!

Diabetes deserves the same amount of attention, recognition, and funding as other illnesses and ailments, now more than ever. The numbers rank our country among the top ten for diabetics, coming in second after China. In addition to diabetics, the country has a large number of pre-diabetics. At least a third of individuals can be avoided from acquiring diabetes if residents are targeted with information on the proper lifestyle alternatives to help maintain blood sugar, lipids, and blood pressure under control.

Diabetes continues to be the commonest cause of fatalities in India.

On the other hand, cancer is on its way to becoming another leading cause. According to the World Cancer Report, “one in 10 Indians will develop cancer during their lifetime, and one in 15 Indians will die of cancer.” Breast, oral cavity, cervix, lungs, stomach, and colon or rectum cancers were the most frequent in India, according to the research, which was based on data from 2018. Our goal is to put a stop to the escalation by creating innovative communication and advocacy techniques and generating new information on the India-specific cancer landscape through suitable R&D work.

While most people are familiar with us because of the extensive awareness campaigns we have run, we do so much more. We are firm believers in the saying, prevention is better than cure. We not only assist citizens in the early identification and elimination of health risks but also promote a healthy lifestyle and provide the emotional support required in the struggle against fatal diseases.

The foundation has successfully marked its presence in the domain of health-related issues pertaining to Diabetes and Cancer. Through the implementation of successful advocacy and awareness campaigns informed by its programs and activities, the Foundation strives to promote change, development, and growth

Our Vision

Human society has achieved incredible advances with its mastery of technology, yet it is disheartening to realize that we are still falling behind when it comes to health and well-being.

According to the National Family Health Survey data for 2015-16, most Indians consume an imbalanced diet. Food habits in India are generally discriminatory based on gender and class. Even among the top echelons of society, a typical meal is lacking fresh fruits, green vegetables, pulses, meat, and milk products required to live a healthy life. Fried meals and unhealthy drinks are important contributors to the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and obesity in India. Even lifestyle changes have pushed us so much that we have so little time to consider whether or not what we eat is a good diet!

Health is more than just the absence of sickness or physical fitness. It may also be characterized as a condition of total physical, mental, and social well-being. A rigorous schedule that includes little to no exercise but lengthy periods of exposure to stress can be harmful to one’s overall health. Chronic stress is caused by long-term emotional stress. This might result in an increase in the release of stress hormones, which can lead to mental and physical issues. Pollution, traffic, long work hours, disrupted sleep cycles, and other factors may all significantly raise our stress levels! This has been shown to hasten the spread of cancer throughout the body, particularly in ovarian, breast, and colorectal cancer. Chronic stress affects the immune system. A weaker immune system makes you more vulnerable to sickness and infection.

So, how do we start addressing these problems? Awareness is the key. The desire for good health and happiness is universal. Our vision is to help everybody fulfill this basic desire to live the quality lives they deserve.

Our Mission

We engage with Medical professionals and Health volunteers to assist in early detection and create awareness among the rural & urban strata.

Early Diabetes Screening through regular screening exercises and advocating healthy living for diabetes control among Indians.

Obesity and physical inactivity are on the rise all across the world. It places a burden on many low- and middle-income nations, which now have populations suffering from both under- and over-nutrition. In addition to developing individual abilities, policymakers must concentrate on regulatory initiatives that prevent and protect people from being exposed to diabetes risks.

Early cancer detection & screening of cancer through awareness and regular screening exercises.

Cancer affects everyone – young and old, wealthy and poor – and places a significant financial and emotional strain on patients, families, and society. Cancer is one of the world's major causes of death. Many of these fatalities, however, may be averted. Healthy lifestyle choices can prevent 30-50 percent of cancers, while others can be diagnosed early, treated, and cured.
